The original three-aisled hall church , possibly a pseudo-basilica, dated from the second half of the 14th century. The lower stories of the chancel tower to the south of the recessed, three-sided apse also date from this period. In 1729/30, it was remodeled into a Baroque hall church with galleries, supported by buttresses , according to a design by Anselm Franz von Ritter zu Groenesteyn . During this conversion, the nave was extended westward by one bay . Galleries were installed in the side aisles . In the central nave, the flat ceiling was replaced by a segmental barrel vault , barely higher than the ceilings above the side aisle galleries. The ceiling paintings in the nave were altered in 1913/14. The new facade is articulated by pilasters and topped with a scrolled gable . The tower was raised to five stories and crowned with a multi-tiered onion dome . The altarpiece of the high altar was designed by Johann Joseph Scheubel the Elder . The carved parts are by Johann Peter Benkert .
The Old Aisch Bridge (Alte Aischbrücke) in Höchstadt an der Aisch is a historic sandstone structure dating back to the 14th century, with its first documented mention in 1391. The 110-meter-long, seven-arch bridge was built over a former ford, featuring a design initially meant for ox teams.
