This is one of Montrichard's oldest monuments, with foundations dating back to the 11th century.
It owes its name to a relic of the true cross brought back from Jerusalem by Foulques Nerra. Built in the 11th century as the castle chapel, it was the site of the wedding of Anne de Beaujeu and Jeanne de France, daughters of King Louis XI.
